Ideas and Tips for Simple Scrapbook Layouts

simple scrapbook layout

If there is one problem that many people experience when creating scrapbooks, it’s that they allow themselves to get overwhelmed with their page designs. Rather than try for simple scrapbook layouts they often try to cram every detail and every embellishment they like on one page. With all those elements and the wording that is often added to this, it’s easy for pages to look busy and crowded. You will often discover that when you compose simple scrapbook layouts your albums will be more inspiring and appealing to the eye and of course easier to design and compose.

One easy tip for creating simple scrapbook layouts is take away some embellishments or wording before you actually adhere these items to the page. When you have everything all laid out, take away an item or two even if you don’t necessarily think you should. Then, take a look over your layout again and see if it is more appealing and eye catching. It may not be easy to plan a simple scrapbook layout, but if you try just removing a couple of items from your original design you will see that this simplified version is often more pleasing then the orginal one.

Scrapbook journaling is another important aspect of simple scrapbook pages. It’s common for scrapbookers to try to write out every single thing they remember about their photograph. This is often a mistake.  Often just a simple word or two or choosing from a couple of scrapbooking quotes is all that’s needed to convey so much. Pages with a baby can just use the word Love or Precious or something brief such as Apple of My Eye or Mommy’s Little One. When using brief phrases or just a word or two, your simple scrapbook layouts are often even more powerful since they stand out so clearly.

Sometimes you can get scrapbooking ideas for simple scrapbook layouts from websites and other experienced scrappers, but you really need to keep your eyes open when looking at these pages. Consider what makes them appealing and simple. Is it the title, the embellishments, or something else? If you really examine these page layouts and really try to critique them, you will learn how to make your own simple scrapbook layouts instead of trying to put too many items on a page creating messy, unbalanced, overcrowded pages!
