Get The Mountains To Your Home This Summer
Summer time is here and you want to get as much sunshine in as he possibly can. You may not be able to just run out and buy a home on the lake in the mountains but you can bring the mountains and the lake to your home.
You want to put your home into a “summer mood” and to do this you will need to be creative and imagine yourself by the lake. Notice the smells, the scenery, and the beautiful views. You can create this look with a few simple tips and hints. It won’t take but a couple of days to have the look of the summer.
You need color in every room. Color can set the mood and can determine whether you and your guests feel relaxed and calm or if you feel jittery and distracted. It can even play a part on children. Try adding pastel colors for your summer colors like apple green or lemon yellow. These are bright and inviting colors. You may not be able to paint the entire room so you can incorporate the colors into your accessories. Try a light colored sofa slip cover to get the look and feel that you want.
Stow away those heavy drapes and blinds for the time being, sheer curtains in light colors are just right for summers. Cover up or stow away all things in dark and solid colors. Change the cushion covers, a nice floral print on a light background looks great on cushions. Similar light slip covers can be put on that dark ottoman or even the dining chair upholstery. Such minor alterations which are easily reversible can make a world of difference to your rooms.
If you have wall to wall carpeting that is dark in color or heavy in texture you can replace it with a bright colored area rug. Adding an area rug with a floral print is a great suggestion or you can accessories that feature a floral print.
Plants are important; you see them growing in the woods and around the lake. Nature is always creating a beautiful picture with every moment. So you can capture that look by adding floral pictures down the hallway. You can take the old fire logs out of the fireplace and replace it with a nice trickling brook from a water fountain.
